The Litmus Test that Divides the World Ver. 1.0.4
The litmus test of many of the Protestant religions is, “Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior?” What is the origin of this doctrine? Did the people who developed this doctrine have knowledge of who this person named Jesus really was? Did they really understand the magnitude of the mission of this person they called Jesus and who has been placed at the head of the Christian Church? Did they really understand who this person they called Jesus really was?
The Discovery that Changed the World and Theology
“Edwin Powell Hubble (November 20, 1889 – September 28, 1953) was an American astronomer who played a crucial role in establishing the field of extragalactic astronomy and is generally regarded as one of the most important observational cosmologists of the 20th century. Hubble is known for showing that the recessional velocity of a galaxy increases with its distance from the earth, implying the universe is expanding, known as ‘Hubble’s Law,’ although a preliminary version of this relation was proposed by Georges Lemaître, a Belgian Catholic priest and physicist, two years earlier in a less prominent journal. It was Georges Lemaître, who found that Hubble’s observations supported the Friedmann model of an expanding universe based on Einstein’s equations for General Relativity, which is now known as the Big Bang theory.” [i]
Hubble observed that far off galaxies emit light in the red spectrum, indicating that these galaxies are moving away from the observer. This is known as “The Doppler Effect.” This is the idea that, if one were standing on a train platform and a train approached blowing its whistle, the pitch of the sound (wave frequency) of the whistle would increase as the train approached the observer. As the train, still blowing its whistle, left the observer, the pitch of the sound of the whistle would decrease. This is also true of light waves. Thus, with the red spectrum being a longer wave length than white light, the galaxies are moving away from the observer (Edwin Hubble at the Mount Wilson Observatory in Southern California).
The discovery that the universe is expanding is equivalent to discovering that planet Earth is not flat but spherical. This knowledge offered many opportunities to explore planet Earth, which led to the development of the world. The discovery that the universe is expanding has led to further exploration of the universe.
The New Universe
Astronomers, cosmologists and astrophysicists agree that there are approximately four billion planets in the universe and 100,000 in our Milky Way galaxy, orbiting a star (sun) in the “Goldilocks Zone” (not too hot and not too cold). This orbit would result in the planet being capable of containing water at liquid temperatures. Given water, salt, amino acids and oxygen, a microorganism would be born that rapidly divides and multiplies, growing into the many shapes and sizes we observe on planet Earth. [ii]
The New Jesus (the RoCoU)
This new data makes the old data of this person they named Jesus out of date. It is evident that this person named Jesus was indeed the Representative of the Creator of the Universe (RoCoU). In order to land a plane on the surface of the Earth, a runway must be constructed for the airplane to land. The same is true of the RoCoU; He needed a platform on which to land and that platform was the Israelite nation developed by the Creator of the Universe (CoU) as recorded in the Old Testament of the Book of Books – the Bible. In fact the prophets of this historic nation proclaimed the coming of the RoCoU.
At this time, the world was engulfed with religion of one sort or another. The Israelites were a monotheist society offering the perfect landing platform for the RoCoU. The RoCoU landed on planet Earth through a seed planted in a virgin maiden of the Israelites. He was born a Homo sapien (modern man), and made Himself a respected teacher who gave us the “Operating Instructions” for living on this creation (planet Earth) and getting our basic needs of food, shelter and clothing met and how to live successfully on this planet Earth, including how to live in peace with our neighbors and other nations[iii].
The RoCoU was in teaching mode for about three years, when apparently he lost favor with those whose income was threatened by his teachings. [iv] The RoCoU was crucified by the Roman authority at the request of the Jewish (Israelite) authority that was, at this time, ruled over by the Romans. The RoCoU needed to die and be buried on planet Earth so that He could rise again in the form that would allow Him to travel to His home in the universe or to one of His next assignment on another planet where life had evolved, developed and been given wisdom (Sapien) to a form that could understand His teachings (Homo Sapiens).
The people to whom He was teaching these principles of life on planet Earth were not capable of understanding the fullness of His message. They were a religious society, so they make a religion of the teachings of the RoCoU and established this person they named Jesus as the head of that religion and worshiped him as a new religion – Christianity; these are the “Leftover Trappings of a Religious Society.” This religion has continued until the twenty-first century when our knowledge of the universe has shed light on who this person they named Jesus really was or could be. He was indeed knowledgeable in all aspects of the universe and the science that has been developed in the past four hundred years since the beginning of applied science, when Galileo proved the Copernicus theory that planet Earth orbited around the sun and not the sun around planet Earth, as was the religious doctrine dictated in Galileo’s time by the church of this period.
The Identity Crisis
The RoCoU stated that not all men would except His message and He promised that He would not leave us alone on this planet Earth, but would send us a Personal Counselor to guide us through life and teach us all that we need to know. He identified this Personal Counselor as The Holy Spirit.[v]
Therein lays the problem associated with the litmus test – accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. The observation that not all men know of these teachings of the RoCoU or do not care to follow or acknowledge Him or his teachings leads to the conclusion that there needs to be a trigger mechanism that allows men to accept the teaching of the RoCoU. Also, it is evident from the experience stated by Socrates as, “Socrates claimed to have a daimonion (literally, a ‘divine something’) that frequently warned him—in the form of a ‘voice’—against mistakes but never told him what to do.” [vi] leads one to conclude that this spirit of the CoU was in the world long before the visit from the RoCoU. This begs the question: “Is this guiding Personal Counselor sent by the RoCoU the same as awakening one’s conscience as a guide through life on planet Earth?”
The Conscience and the Conclusion of the Mystery
When one learns to listen to their conscience for guidance by whatever means – be it maturity, conviction, crises, or indoctrination – this could very well be what was intended by the CoU when He instilled wisdom into the evolved Homo species, leading to the term Homo Sapiens (Wise Homos). Therefore, the divisive doctrine of “accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior” is not only unnecessary, but also self-defeating in accomplishing the mission of the RoCoU on this planet Earth and that mission is to connect every Homo Sapien to his conscience that he may be guided by the RoCoU’s advocate – the Personal Counselor or Holy Spirit.
“A new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die, and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it.” (Max Planck 1858-1947)
“Belief perseverance is maintaining a belief despite new information that firmly contradicts it. Since rationality involves conceptual flexibility, belief perseverance is consistent with the View that human beings act at times in an irrational manner.” [vii] Ferdinand Canning Scott Schiller (1864 –1937), usually cited as F. C. S. Schiller, was a German-British philosopher, holds that “belief perseverance “deserves to rank among the fundamental ‘laws’ of nature.”
